The opportunity: Due to continued success within our Melbourne business and a promotion within the team, we are looking to engage an Urban Planner to deliver high quality outcomes and provide specialist advice to support significant water and transport infrastructure projects. We have an track record of working on complex but varied projects that are shaping our beautiful city, Melbourne. To be a rock star in this role you'll enjoy the diverse aspect of project work while gaining unique internal exposure to industry experts in their field. Day to day, you'll be providing advice and recommendations with reports you've created as evidence to this advice. You'll be liaising with a diverse set of stakeholders from authorities to local government to clients to internal stakeholders to name only a few. Permit applications and planning scheme amendments are your bread and butter, and whilst you're looking to evolve this to a level of strategic planning preparation, you'll be providing rigour and confidence in our coordination and negotiation during the planning permit process. About you: Your understanding and knowledge of the Victorian Planning and Environment Act 1987 is what some may say is exemplary. And it will need to be, to be that rock star performer. You'll also need to demonstrate your ability to prepare planning permits with ease, analyse land use with confidence and show us how you've inputted into the design process with panache. Whilst you may not come from an consultancy background, you have an appreciation for the environment in which we work in. You also appreciate environmental management and associated approvals or heritage permit processes. Clients are number 2, as safety is number 1 in our book. In saying that, your communication style and approach has developed over your career and you feel comfortable and confident in front of clients or authorities. In the end, you would say that you have enthusiasm for achieving good planning and design outcomes, and understand how they can be a key contributor to KBR. Finally, you have: Solid statutory planning skills Great ability to manage projects and provide accurate and timely advice Hold a degree in Urban Planning or equivalent and eligibility for PIA membership Relevant statutory or strategic planning experience within a consultancy, state or local government environment in Victoria.
