Description

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Water Operator to join the team based in Seymour. Alternatively, you are someone who has the capability from existing relevant skills and experience to transition quickly into the role.

Working with the Corporation’s Water Treatment Plants and facilities, you will be responsible for providing the community with safe and quality water at a variety of sites including Nagambie, Euroa, Seymour, Broadford and Kilmore.

Using modern technology and equipment to perform your role, you are competent in a range of plant and mechanical operations while demonstrating a strong focus on safety requirements.

Completing water sampling requirements and Dam Safety inspections across our sites will provide you with the variety you are looking for.

Possession of, or willingness to obtain Cert 3 in Water Industry Operations and Embankment Dam Safety Training is required.

 


About your new role...
You will be part of a small team, in a great outdoor location, assisting with looking after the Corporation’s South West water treatment operations. Your daily tasks will include assisting with preventative and routine maintenance, operation of existing treatment systems, construction of new works, ensuring we meet expectations of delivering quality water services to our customers.

You will also have administrative tasks to complete regularly and be responsive to our customers queries and service complaints.

Sound information technology skills and/or the ability to learn new systems are required to assist in the operation of our treatment plants.

 You might be an experienced operator looking for a change of scenery in which case we would love to have your skills and experience join the team. Alternatively, you might be interested in a new career and with an appetite to learn, positive attitude and ability to transfer existing skills to this role, you will learn to run our water treatment plants which provides the community with its potable water supply.


About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated the following:
*Minimum Year 11 education or appropriate trade qualification
*HR Truck Licence (desirable)
*Qualified Backhoe Operator (not essential)
*Good understanding of hydraulics and mechanical plant
*Demonstrated commitment, ability and experience in resolving customer enquiries whilst providing a strong customer focus
*Physically capable of undertaking tasks in relation to the operation and maintenance of water treatment assets
*Ability to carry out mathematical calculations and interpret results
*Ability to work on a roster for overtime and emergency call out work as required
*Strong OHS commitment and focus
*Experience in the plumbing, water, or allied service industry (not essential)
*Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation
*Ability to work effectively, or learn quickly, with computer-based technology
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills
*Adaptable, hands on and enjoy working outdoors and in all elements
*A current drivers licence
*COVID-19 Vaccinated or Exemption
