Manager Major Plants

If you are looking for your next leadership challenge, Icon Water’s Infrastructure Services Management Team requires a decisive, results-focussed, and strategic Major Plants Manager to lead the organisation’s Major Plants Team.
Using your strong people and leadership skills, and your technical knowledge, you will lead a team responsible for co-ordination and management of safe, effective and reliable operations and maintenance activities related to the provision of Icon Water’s water and sewerage services at its major treatment plants.

As the Manager Major Plants, you will:
Provide strategic direction and prioritisation of Major Plants Branch strategic improvement opportunities including motivating, communicating, and leading change within the Branch to foster a team with a learning mindset and an environment of continuous improvement.
Foster a safety-first culture within the Branch to ensure all legislative obligations and Icon Water’s policies and procedures are followed
Work proactively and collaboratively as a member of the Infrastructure Services Management Team to aid in the development and execution of Group and Organisational business strategy
Establish, lead and maintain systems, process and capability to plan, schedule and deliver effective and consistently reliable operations and maintenance services in relation to major treatment plant assets.
Develop, manage and monitor Branch financial budget and planned activities and deliverables.

Our ideal candidate will possess:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, or civil) are strongly desirable.
Extensive leadership experience with time spent in senior management or supervisory level roles required.
Significant experience as a manager or leader in an industrial and operational environment, including demonstrated dispute resolution and mediation skills as well as demonstrated ability in building solid working relationships with all levels of the organisation and encouraging and improving team performance
Familiarity with water and sewage treatment plant process
Demonstrated experience in strategic relationships and contract management
Experience in the delivery of specialised utility services, or a demonstrated customer service focus
Experience in preparing and presenting complex business issues and information combined with the ability to engage and influence a diverse set of stakeholders.
Detailed knowledge of relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation, regulations, obligations and requirements
Experience in influencing and communicating at all levels of management in a complex and technically innovative organisation
Demonstrated experience with implementing and managing workplace change within an industrial environment.
Bonus if you have:
Asset management expertise and demonstrated understanding of ISO 55000
Operational role experience in water or other utilities

Who are we?
Icon Water Limited is an unlisted public company owned by the ACT Government. The company’s voting shareholders are the ACT Chief Minister, Andrew Barr MLA and the Minister for the Environment and Heritage Mick Gentleman MLA.
Icon Water owns and manages the assets and operation of water and sewerage services to the ACT and bulk water to Queanbeyan. Icon Water also has an investment in the ACT’s energy distributor and retailer ActewAGL, through a joint venture of two partnerships with each of Jemena Limited and AGL Energy Limited.
