Description

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

No two days will be the same in this supporting role that ensures the performance of water treatment plants and quality systems are compliant with the Safe Drinking Water Act.

An inquisitive nature allows you to assist with investigations of water quality events and incidents to ensure the delivery of safe drinking water for the communities we service.

With a good balance of field and administrative tasks, you will work with a competent team who are passionate about the work they do. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to be innovative with water quality projects.

Your developed interpersonal skills are evident, allowing you to effectively engage with stakeholders and take a lead role in educating them to understand their obligations.

Experience with Water Treatment Plant Operations and process optimisation provides a great platform for you to step into this role


About your new role...
Based in Shepparton you will work closely with the Manager – Water Quality and Drinking Water Compliance Coordinator to ensure the delivery of safe drinking water.

Helping others to understand their obligations to comply with legislation, rules, policies, guidelines, and codes of conduct will be your key focus.

Success in this role is derived from your analytical mind to assist with investigations of water quality events and incidents, an eye for detail and ability to work within strict requirements.

You will work across all 32 water treatment plants, covering 20,000sqkm that encompasses Goulburn Valleys footprint from the Murray to the Mountains.

Experience in Water Treatment Plant Operations and process optimisation allows you to support the team, stepping into run treatment plants from time to time.

A key point of role success will be the supervision of two operators responsible for project maintenance.

In partnership, there will be a requirement for you to be flexible in your work location and you will be afforded the ability to work in line with GVW’s flexible working policy.


About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated the following:

  • Certificate IV in Water Treatment Operations or equivalent
  • Degree in Engineering or Science and completion of a recognised leadership program is preferred
  • Experience with Water Treatment Plant Operations and process optimisation
  • Experience with Information Database Management, Quality Management Systems, process optimisation and water and health legislation
  • Ability to liaise effectively and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong administrative skills associated with project delivery including procurement and water treatment technical aptitude
  • Previous experience in managing competing priorities, workloads, and budgets
  • Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written and presentation skills
  • Highly capable in liaising with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external 
  • Strong OHS commitment and focus
  • Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation
  • A current driver’s licence
