Description

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

If you like to be kept busy you will thrive in this fixed term position supporting the asset accounting and reporting functions in the Finance team.

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional or recent accounting graduate who understands, or previous experience with, asset accounting and reporting along with other accounting practices.

Highly motivated, detail oriented and confident in your skills, your well-honed abilities are complemented by studies completed in Finance or Business or are currently studying.

Solid time management and organisation skills will allow you to crush strict deadlines and your experience in systems, or ability to learn at ease Microsoft Dynamics D365 will add significant value and input to assist the team to enhance customer service and achieve outstanding results.

About your new role...

Reporting to the Manager – Finance your focus will be on supporting the Finance team across asset accounting and reporting accounting functions.

This support will include general accounting, reporting and process improvements, preparation of monthly reports and variance analysis against budgets for department managers,

The position will be based at the Administration Building in thriving Fryers Street – in Shepparton’s CBD Hub. Here you can take a break from figures by popping into the precinct, an area currently under redevelopment to stretch the legs and grab your morning take away.

You will have the ability to work flexibly, in line with GVW’s flexible working policy.

This fixed term position will allow you to flex your accounting muscle, and be exposed to a Corporate setting in this essential services industry

 
About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated the following:

  • Minimum Year 12 Education
  • Cert IV or above in Finance or Business (or currently studying)
  • High level knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Understanding of financial systems;
    *Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (desirable)
  • Proven ability to engage collaboratively, influence and negotiate with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels
  • Possess a drive to succeed
  • Ability to work autonomously, high standard of accuracy and manage your time effectively
  • Get a buzz out of problem solving and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Beyond passionate about providing a positive customer experience
  • High level computer, administrative and report writing skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong OHS commitment and focus
  • A current motor vehicle licence is essential
