Hydrologist / Flood Modeler (Dams)

We are seeking a Hydrologist / Flood Modeler to work closely with members of both our Hydrology and Dams community across GHD to deliver a variety of Dams related hydrological and hydraulic modelling and Loss of Life estimation projects. 

You’ll join our Water Resources Group, and you'll work as part of our experienced team, playing a key role in the delivery of ambitious and interesting projects that allow you a balance of technical work, project management, operational support, business development and client engagement.

We value wellness and flexibly, your role can be part-time or full-time, and you can be based in any of our Victorian offices, with a preference for Melbourne.

This challenging position has great variety and will see you involved in:

• Undertaking hydrology, hydraulic modelling, flood modelling and mapping and Consequence Category aspects of projects including informing design of new dams or required upgrades
• Contributing to and/or leading the preparation of proposals, providing creative solutions and technical reporting

What would you bring to the team?

• 5 or more years of proven experience demonstrating sound knowledge and application of flood estimation methods, including understanding and application of ARR 2019 developments
• Sound knowledge of Hydraulic modelling (Knowledge of TUFLOW and HEC-RAS is favourable)
• Sound knowledge of GIS
• Sound knowledge of Flood forecasting, Extreme event and dam hydrology
• ANCOLD Consequence Category Assessments including Loss of Life and Damages calculations
• Life-Sim or CFD modelling experience will be beneficial
• BE / BSc Engineering or similar
