The Project Manager, Water is accountable for successfully managing projects within the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) Alliance and will be part of the WSP VIC/TAS Water Section. The key responsibilities for this role relate to the overall delivery and performance of the projects, including driving successful commercial, schedule and risk outcomes.

You key responsibilities will include the...

  • Coordination of the options analysis for engineering projects, including financial, non-financial and risk considerations.
  • Delivery of detailed business cases to a detailed planning level.
  • Management of consultant activities and sub-contractor activities in the delivery of projects.
  • Work collaboratively with the Design Manager to manage the overall delivery of projects to time, budget and quality and guide project delivery to achieve high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Comply with all role-specific Safety Health Environmental Quality (SHEQ) obligations.
  • Lead a safety culture by role modelling safe work practices and ensuring all safety and environmental obligations are fulfilled.
  • Accountable for embedding Project Controls, Contracts Administration, Construction Management and Cost Planning into Projects systems and processes.
  • Management of project team and interfacing with client, internal and external stakeholders across a number of projects
  • Foster and engage a high performing workforce, with a focus on mentoring, training and development.
  • Manage project time through planning and scheduling activities to ensure project objectives are achieved within identified timeframes.
  • Apply scope management techniques and activities including establishing, planning, managing, directions and controlling project scopes to meet project objectives.
  • Identify and define quality standards and processes to achieve client satisfaction. Monitor and identify solutions to ensure quality standards are achieved, management systems and processes focus on continuous improvement. Ensure QA/QC processes have been implemented in accordance with WSP procedures.
  • Identify, analyse and evaluate project risks to ensure project objectives are realised. Manage, review and monitor the risk to ensure effective completion. Establish and follow risk management plans and communicate these plans with stakeholders and project teams.
  • Prepare project fee estimates and contribute to pursuits and proposal preparation.
  • Manage the evaluation and engagement of external consultants where design (or elements thereof) is externally produced.

Ideally you will have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent.
  • Experience in working in an Alliance environment.
  • Proven experience successfully conducting options analysis for engineering projects, including financial, non-financial and risk considerations.
  • Demonstrated water and sewer engineering knowledge and experience in the water utility sector or similar,
  • Experience in water/wastewater planning at a detailed planning level.
  • Competent and experienced in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of projects.
  • Maintain knowledge and appropriate technical standards, legislation, codes of practice and Australian standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply safety in design processes on projects.
  • Have strong verbal communication and report writing skills.
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects to quality, time and within budget.
  • Experience in managing change.
  • Established processes for identifying, managing and monitoring risks to project outcomes in particular safety management and design.
  • Proven competency in project management of a range of small, medium and large multi-disciplinary water infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients to quality, time and within budget
  • Experience in resourcing and managing a wide range of professional disciplines and subcontractors in a project.
  • Skilled in managing conflicts between stakeholders, organisational cultures and business systems demands
