Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Reporting to the Manager – Planning and Climate Resilience, you will manage a team of engineers that are responsible for planning the Corporation’s water and wastewater infrastructure to ensure adequate capacity and capability.

You will liaise with various internal and external stakeholders to communicate strategic and technical concepts and will be able to use your initiative to independently solve problems, manage competing priorities and drive team performance.

You will be responsible for managing the development of strategic master plans for water and sewer network assets, water treatment plants and wastewater management facilities, as well as managing development servicing requests for residential, commercial, and industrial customer.

About your new role...
In this key technical and leadership position you will be responsible for the development of servicing strategies for new developments and providing specialist technical advice on enquiries or projects relating to hydraulic modelling, network capacity or treatment facility processes:

You will be passionate about cultivating and supporting a high performing team, managing workloads, people, and team budgets to deliver quality outcomes, preparing business cases and being an advocate for the team’s mental and physical well-being

You will be joining a multidisciplinary team who are based at the Administration Building in Fryers Street – in Shepparton’s CBD Hub, currently under an exciting new development. However, you will be afforded the ability to work flexibly, in line with GVW’s flexible working policy.

About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated the following:

  •  Degree in relevant engineering position (civil, chemical, or environmental)
  • Diploma or above in management or leadership
  • Minimum 5 years water industry experience, particularly in infrastructure planning
  • Previous experience in developing strategic planning documents
  • Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, water balance modelling and water and sewer network considerations
  • Previous people management experience, including leading a team to achieve quality outcomes
  • Previous experience in managing competing priorities, workloads, and budgets
  • Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written and presentation skills
  • Highly capable in liaising with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external 
  • Strong OHS commitment and focus
  • Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation
  • A current driver’s licence
  • COVID-19 Vaccinated or Exemption
