RPS has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Principal Hydrologist / Team Leader to join our specialist Water Management team in Perth. Operating in this senior role, you will take responsibility for our Urban Water operations.
As Principal Hydrologist / Team Lead, you will lead and manage a team of hydrologists to deliver surface water investigations, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, flood assessments and urban water management assessments and approvals. You will provide staff coaching, high-level technical review and Client-focussed delivery.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in urban water management, with strong technical project delivery in a consultancy environment, and have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the WA hydrological settings.
Key responsibilities include:
Conceiving, designing and managing projects.
Providing advanced level advice and guidance to project teams and clients.
Leading the preparation of proposals.
Coordinating work programmes and direction of resources for projects.
Providing technical inputs across projects.
Efficient operation of the team.
Effective business and client relationship development.
12+ years experience in hydrology and related fields, particularly urban water management.
Tertiary qualification in Environmental/Civil Engineering or Environmental Sciences with specialisation in hydrology or relevant discipline.
Demonstrated experience in concept and detailed design of stormwater drainage systems and flood mitigation measures, providing strategic direction to deliver innovative solutions.
Proficient in 1D and 2D stormwater modelling (XPSWMM, Infoworks, XP Rafts is preferred).
Excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
Skilled in stakeholder engagement and negotiations.
Enthusiastic about managing and leading a team and support of business operations.
Track record in Client engagement and work-winning.
