From providing clean drinking water, planning to manage flooding and keeping all 25,000km of Melbourne’s waterways healthy, Melbourne Water manage all parts of the water cycle that are essential to our way of life today, tomorrow and for generations to come. Committed to enhancing life and liveability for the greater Melbourne region, their strategic direction outlines this vision in the areas of healthy people, healthy places and healthy environment. As part of this new strategy, the organisation underwent a restructure in late 2022 to reposition it to deliver on this strategic direction. In this, the new Service Futures division was created, enhancing how we research, strategize, plan and operationalise for success in the face of pressures such as climate change and population growth.
Reporting to the recently appointed Executive General Manager Service Futures, this newly created role of General Manager Service Strategy will ensure all services are reliable and resilient in the face of change, leading the development of current and new service strategies to ensure they are fit for purpose. You will work in partnership with the executive team and Board to define business strategy and drive improvement projects and plans to secure assets for future sustainability and viable customers. You will introduce agile teams to get projects delivered, supervising business planning, sustainability, climate change, research and modelling. Ensuring services are reliable, you will foster cross organisation and sector collaboration, while working in partnership with traditional owner groups.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will be an experienced leader with experience leading teams through significant change. With a track record of leading and developing strategy, you will lead enterprise goals related to services, while creating strategies and services plans that allow Melbourne Water to anticipate future challenges. Known for your ability to build effective processes and decision making frameworks to respond effectively in complex and evolving operating environments and during events of disruption. You will have extensive experience managing high performing teams, being able to lead through change and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
