Rous County Council are unlike other councils. We are a small and unique organisation with a big role to play across our region. We are deeply connected to our communities through our environmental services of bulk water supply, weed biosecurity, and flood mitigation infrastructure across various local council areas.

This role will see you undertake the operation and maintenance of Councils water treatment plants, dosing stations, water sources and related recreational areas in compliance with Council’s Drinking Water Management System. See link for more information Water treatment (nsw.gov.au)
*Please note: This role requires you to be available for an on-call roster for after-hours duties

About You
Your excellent technical problem solving, and accurate data recording will be put to great use, as will any previous experience in water industry operations.
This is a diverse outdoor role and will suit someone who thrives on learning new things, enjoys working in a team and has a passion for supporting a sustainable future of water for our local region.
Ideally, you have experience in the operation of water treatment plants and knowledge of water quality risks, contamination issues and their management including water quality sampling, water treatment and monitoring. Basic laboratory skills, and mechanical aptitude would be beneficial.

Rous County Council is a county council constituted under the Local Government Act 1993. Council has three main functions:
Bulk water supply: Council is the regional water supply authority providing water in bulk to the council areas. A population of around 100,000 is serviced by this water supply system with the actual area of operations being approximately 3,000km2.
Weed biosecurity: Council undertakes a wide range of activities to combat the spread of targeted weeds across the local area.
Flood mitigation: Council is a flood mitigation authority operating across the local government areas of Ballina, Lismore and Richmond Valley.
