About the opportunity Jacobs is renowned for the excellence of our technical consulting and project delivery expertise in the water industry. With a wealth of projects in the pipeline we are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Dams Engineer to join our talented and respected Water team. With recent project wins in the dams engineering sector, an opportunity exists for suitably qualified and motivated engineers to work on diverse and interesting projects across Australia and New Zealand.
Applicants based anywhere in Australia and New Zealand will be considered. Key areas of responsibility include:
Delivery of projects involving dam safety reviews of existing earth and concrete dams for local and inter-state clients
Analysis and design associated with the structural, hydraulic, geotechnical and mechanical components of dams and hydraulic structures and their appurtenant facilities
Performing computations, modelling and analysis to determine loading capacity and performance of existing and proposed new structures
Supporting risk assessments related to dam design, construction and operation
Working collaboratively with other disciplines as well as independently
Play a role in business development, client relationships, strategic pursuits, and preparation of proposals, budgets and scopes of work
Facilitate linkage between consultancy disciplines with a view to delivering varied solutions to our clients
Undertake design and project management of dams and water infrastructure projects, complete project work on these projects and assist other project managers with project work
Demonstrated experience in the design and analysis of structural, geotechnical, hydraulic and mechanical components of dams and hydraulic structures
Demonstrable industry profile
Strong problem solving skills with ability to define and solve technical problems by investigating, developing and testing alternatives
Sound project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous investigation and design projects
A sound understanding of asset and risk management principles, ANCOLD and dam industry guidelines
Excellent inter-personal, computer, written and oral communication skills
Self-motivation and the ability to work as a member of a team with limited supervision
The ability to think practically as well as theoretically in relation to engineering systems
