Jacobs Surface Water Engineers are a highly respected team that deliver complex and technically challenging local and national projects to clients involved in a wide range of management, infrastructure and development activities including mining and energy clients, state, federal and local government, utilities, and transport providers.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Surface Water Engineer to join our Brisbane team. In this role you will work closely with local and national Surface Water team members and other colleagues across the business. This opportunity allows for working with industry leaders as well as to contribute to fostering strong client relationships through delivering strong project outcomes.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading the strategic identification and assessment of water management options on mining projects
  • Development and analysis of mine water balance models, principally in GoldSim
  • Working with clients to understand their key issues, and develop and assess solutions that meet their requirements
  • Scope work and prepare project budgets based on understanding of the technical requirements, the method applicable and the time required to complete work
  • Report writing and proposal preparation
  • Mentor and lead other mine water practitioners and the extended team as needed

Ideally you’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Strong technical knowledge of mine water management principles, such as:
    • Water balance modelling and analysis, specifically using GoldSim
    • Hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and analysis
  • Established relationships within client organisations and proven ability to build and foster relationships through project delivery
  • Ability to deliver high quality outputs under tight timeframes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, set priorities and work within required time lines
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent report writing and proposal preparation capabilities
