Full time, Graduate / Entry Level Engineering (electrical) Engineering (mechanical) Engineering (process) Operations and Maintenance Wastewater Treatment

Description

Intelligent, driven, compassionate, trouble-shooting electrical or mechanical engineer

Looking to fill our first full-time engineering role here in Australia. I know I'm going to under-sell this, but that is the idea. Algaesys is looking for someone who likes getting their hands dirty, is capable of learning and of using their powers of observation and intelligence.

Our organisation is dedicated to making a difference to this planet (and any others we manage to visit). We want to bring sustainable wastewater treatment to the world, providing a safe & reliable source of water, fertiliser and bio-methane that can be easily managed, monitored and maintained.

In order to help us achieve this mission we need a passionate, dedicated team of free-thinking staff who aren't afraid to disrupt the status quo, get their hands dirty, visit locations most people will never see and work with a wide range of clients from large multinational corporations to small first-nations communities. You will be the first local member of that team and so will be responsible for helping create and foster the culture we want to grow here.

You will be working with a wider global team of process, chemical, biological and process engineers potentially resulting in you needing to travel to international projects to lend a hand as well.

If you got into engineering to earn a ton of money working in the mining industry and you like the idea of an air-conditioned office and a large project team at your beck and call, then this job is definitely not for you.

If on the other hand, you like the idea of doing something meaningful with your life, earning a good salary, working with intelligent, motivated colleagues, travelling a fair bit in both hospitable and inhospitable country and can potentially fix anything with whatever you can find to hand (or have brought with you), then this may be the job for you.

Responsibilities

Be part of the commissioning team who setup and run our wastewater treatment plants.

Improve upon our wastewater treatment plant designs.

Incorporate other complementary technologies into our plants.

Work with us to perfect the SCADA/Monitoring & Reporting system, combined with the ML/AI engine that will auto-tune our plants.

Be part of a small, intelligent, global team bringing this technology to the world.

Qualifications

You will ideally have completed your engineering degree in Electrical Engineering.

You will have good CAD experience and will be capable of both reading designs and creating and modifying them in Autodesk, Autocad, Solidworks or similar.

You will ideally be capable of driving a 4-Wheel drive, camping, and surviving without creature comforts for short periods of time.

Ideally you will have completed some units in Environmental Engineering or Hydrology or have a demonstrated interest in or understanding of wastewater treatment technologies and how they relate to the environment.

You will definitely need a sense of humour and have the ability to explain complex ideas simply.

If this sounds like you - and you like the idea of getting a job with no defined career plan in a startup company that is aiming for big things, then feel free to drop me a line.

If we promise nothing else, we promise an interesting journey and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, where you learn a lot about yourself as well as sustainable wastewater treatment and get the opportunity to use your education for something both useful and meaningful.
