The Utilities Engineer is a role suited to those recent graduates who have limited experience but wish to rapidly expand their knowledge and skills. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing support to the Manager Utilities for the management of Council's Water Supplies, Sewerage Schemes and associated systems. Duties include: • Assist in the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of Council’s water supplies in Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo, Tottenham, Albert, Tullibigeal, Burcher and Fifield • Assist in the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of Council’s sewerage schemes and treatment plants in Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo and Tottenham • Prepare packages of work for renewal, upgrade and maintenance of Council’s water supply and sewerage schemes in Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo and Tottenham • Assist in the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of Council’s Telemetry and CITECT SCADA and PLC systems • Assist in the development, implementation and review of Best Practice Principles for Water and Sewerage • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of asset management documents for all water and sewerage pipes, valves, fittings, plant and storages • Assist in the preparation and production of estimates and models for budgeting and strategic planning of asset improvements • Assist the Manager Utilities with overseeing any capital works in the Utilities Program Area • Assist the Manager Utilities with overseeing the training plan for staff in the program areas. • Assist other Infrastructure Services - Managers as directed by the Manager Utilities. • Report to the Manager Utilities on a monthly basis on the progress towards project milestones in the program areas. • Assist in the investigation, planning, development and management of identified engineering projects for Council • Assist in the preparation of forward planning, budgeting and scheduling of works programs for program areas • Assist in reviews of staff, when required, including training plans • Preparation of reports for the consideration of the Director, Manager Utilities or a committee • Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation including and not limited to the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, POEO Act, Local Government Act 1993 • Provide management and supervision of staff and contractors delegated to this position. • Prepare responses to routine correspondence for signing by Director. • Assist with other water and sewerage operational tasks that are within your skill level as required and directed by the Manager Utilities. • Apply Council policy and procedures • Ability and willingness to learn a variety of skills to be utilised within Council’s Department Infrastructure Services
