About the role

We're seeking an Area Manager (South) to support our Sydney Water contract to manage and oversee the delivery of the Operational Maintenance services.This is split operationally into 3 Areas – North, West and South. 

Responsible for managing a team of Mechanical and Electrical fitters in providing Operational Maintenance Services for Sydney Water’s treatment, processing and network assets and sites.  This includes a programme of Preventive Maintenance and breakdown/reactive maintenance as required.

With a strong focus on safety and compliance, this role creates and maintains an environment that fosters a collaborative, open and strong working relationship with our employees and customer alike.

Accountable for Operational KPI outcomes and Financial budget control.

Responsibilities include:

  • Safety Lead a team of Fitters and electricians (approx. 35 – 60) through Delivery Team Leaders (Supervisors) across many geographically diverse sites in the Area
  • Provide cover as required for 24 x 7 operational support
  • Comply with all applicable health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, statutory obligations and Ventia policy at all times
  • Complete required Preventative and Corrective Maintenance and respond to breakdowns as required to meet KPIs
  • Analyse Operational performance weekly and prepare monthly reports
  • Utilisation of Field mobility software solutions (Sirius and Click) for work allocation
  • Represent Ventia Utility Services in dealing with Client and Sub-Contractors
  • Develop and execute a budget and forecast for labour, materials and expenses
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, improve services and safety
  • Ensure monthly budget targets are achieved

About you

To be successful in the role you'd have demonstrated similar Project Management experience in Water and/ or Waste Water Infrastructure.  

  • Formal Project Management qualification (desirable)
  • Project Management and delivery in water/wastewater or similar heavy industrial environment
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Minimum 5 years Staff and trades employee management
  • Demonstrated ability in:
    • Budget Management
    • Sub-Contractor Management
    • Client Engagement
    • Health, Safety and Environmental management
    • Work planning and resource management
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Experience of using Work Order Allocations systems/processes
  • Commercially astute with strong financial acumen
  • Ability to understand Contracts and KPI measurement and management
  • Competent Microsoft user, especially in Excel, ability to analyse complex data scenarios and identify trends
