Due to the continuous success of our Australian operations, WSP currently have an exciting long term program opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer in our Water and Wastewater Treatment division.

Your Opportunity
As a successful applicant, you will be expected to lead or participate in the following activities and responsibilities:

  • Lead our ‘zero harm’ safety culture and comply with role specific SHEQ obligations
  • Contribute to the growth of the business by actively delivering for clients and partners
  • Drive the pace and efficiency in the delivery of treatment plant design and execution projects.
  • Undertake a diverse variety of projects, with experience in conceptual to detail design of water and wastewater treatment projects
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver on project goals
  • Manage the overall scope and day-to-day tasks of multiple projects of varying complexity and size
  • Manage the production and review of concise high quality technical documentation that effectively present complex information and results to technical and non-technical clients
  • Manage and contribute to projects (as appropriate), including providing technical review and sign off, risk management, commercial and project management
  • Apply relevant State and Federal legislation, industry standards and guidelines as it pertains to water and wastewater projects
  • Undertake liaison with project stakeholders including client and vendors
  • Provide technical contribution to proposals and/or pursuits
  • Keep abreast of current water and wastewater technology and provide high technical expertise and innovation in design and procurement of projects
  • Support and mentor staff, including active participation in the Mentoring Program
  • Build trust within the business and team
  • Active involvement in shaping the industry and events through committees, industry bodies and delivery papers

Key Skills and qualifications
WSP encourages and supports ongoing personal and professional development. To be successful in this position it is anticipated that you will possess the following skills and experience or that you can showcase them through your career history.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical Engineering
  • MIEAust or IChemE equivalent, preferably already attained CPEng and RPEQ
  • Typically, 10 to 15+ years’ experience
  • Experience in the water industry is essential
  • Substantial Technical experience across a broad range of areas within Water and/or Wastewater Treatment/Process discipline
  • Ability to prepare technical reports to a high standard requiring minimal correction; and provide final review of reports for medium to large projects
  • Hands on experience in Mass Balance/Design basis/Equipment Sizing/PFD/P&ID/FDs
  • Biowin modelling experience
  • Experience in detailed design and equipment selection
  • Substantial experience in identifying risk in medium to large profile projects, HAZOP/CHAIR and related safety in design practices and processes
  • Experience in management of small multidisciplinary teams
  • Developing capability to deliver best client outcomes or options which have saved the client cost or time
  • Experience in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple, varying size projects and applying business systems, including QA and OH&S system
  • Experience in managing client relations and expectation
  • Ability to prepare successful proposals with the correct scope and budget
  • Contribute to building technical ability in others and transferring technical expertise within the organisation
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
