About the role:
In this rare and exciting opportunity, you will provide specialist expertise and support within a bright team. You will be responsible for developing innovative solutions to ensure optimal water quality outcomes are achieved and maintained across Unitywater’s water supply and recycled water networks. Driven by Unitywater’s strategy of smart business, you will work with integrated data platforms and online water quality monitoring to help develop a smart network.

Your demonstrated knowledge and experience in the fields of chemistry and/or microbiology and quality management systems will be utilised to address the questions faced by senior management and operational staff. In addition, you will contribute to the development of strategies and play an effective technical role in the implementation of key strategic, corporate and operational plans.

To be successful in this position you will need to be detail focused, inventive, motivated, and have a focus on win-win outcomes. You will also have strong investigative skills, be able to resolve problems swiftly and have strong stakeholder engagement and relationship skills. The role requires commitment to manage projects and coordinate resources effectively to achieve team goals and meet deadlines.

About you:
To contribute to Unitywater’s values of Reliability, Safety, Honesty & Integrity, Efficiency, One Team, Innovation, you will demonstrate the following skills and qualities for the role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in science or engineering with emphasis on the disciplines of chemistry, microbiology or biochemistry;
  • Ability to build strong partnerships across all key stakeholder groups;
  • Significant experience with a large urban water utility, or relevant experience in the water industry or industrial water treatment, where you have been responsible for management of water quality outcomes;
  • Strong working knowledge of Drinking Water Quality Management Systems, and ability to maintain a Drinking Water Quality Management Plan and ISO 22000 certification.
  • Sound project management skills with the ability to develop, coordinator and manage projects, people and resources effectively to achieve work goals, meet deadlines and commitments;
  • Ability to identify and solve problems of a scientific nature coupled with effective critical, problem solving and investigative skills.
