About us

Sydney Water has a proud heritage and progressive future. We see the world is changing and we are changing too. The surging population of Sydney is putting pressure on our natural resources, housing and infrastructure. In just 15 years, we can expect an extra 2.71 million people and over 570,000 new homes.

To enable this growth, we are commencing one of Australia’s biggest water programs. This is being implemented through the most dynamic delivery framework of our generation - Partnering for Success (P4S).

Our infrastructure capital program has already transformed and been recognised for excellence in delivery. That evolution is continuing through P4S. Technology enabled and enhanced processes, coupled with long term partnering contracts, are building a delivery platform for the future. We are improving collaboration and integration across the value chain, promoting innovation and flexibility to achieve outcomes that our customers value.

Long term stability brings a pathway for future talent to join the team. Promoting partnerships across the value chain aims to build an environment where change and innovation can thrive, in a safe, open, inclusive and diverse workplace. Our commercial agreements are adapting to support this change. In an Australian first, Sydney Water is adopting the NEC4 form of contract.  This suite of contracts brings plain English and a collaborative way of working right up front in the relationship with suppliers, contractors and consultants. Particularly for project and maintenance works, this is a new way of working and doing business for Sydney Water and the supply chain.

About the role

Being a P4S Area Delivery Manager (ADM) is not an easy role. It will take a confident and inspirational leader. Establishing and empowering a wide ranging and diverse team to be the best they can; from the fresh new graduate to the experienced hand on the tools.  Working across boundaries today, for the tomorrow and future of Sydney.

Creating an environment, where staff and contractors feel safe to challenge the norm, isn’t for everyone.  Taking full ownership for the successful delivery of a growing regional infrastructure portfolio of works and services is a big role. This is not the usual capital works program or regional manager role. Each P4S regional team is responsible for a broad scope. The infrastructure investment program spans across design, construction, maintenance, facilities management, minor works and renewals.

The ADM will be the figure head for a region. Tasked with ensuring Sydney Water’s customer objectives are enabled is position leads and facilitates collaborative working between Sydney Water teams and the relevant Regional Delivery Consortium to deliver complex programs of work and the successful operation of the Partnering for Success Model within their region.

You are accountable to build long term trusted relationships and establishing an integrated delivery team, bringing together multi-disciplinary professionals from across Sydney Water and its supply chain partners. The position will focus on ensuring Sydney Water is able to optimise and improve delivery performance, driving value from the asset program.

To be successful, dynamic, empathetic and inspirational leadership is key. Having the ability to break down silos and assist all parties to adapt to the NEC4 Contract partnering principles will provide a pathway for excellence. To enable the new ways of working defined by P4S, this leader will need to be a problem solver that can think clearly and act decisively.

The role is accountable for ensuring that all systems related to the planning, delivery and performance management of the Annual Integrated Works Program are managed appropriately across the Region and ensuring that NEC4 contract management processes are adhered to by Sydney Water and the Regional Delivery Consortium.
