Leverage your career and join the largest Council and Wastewater Operation in regional Queensland!
About Council
Townsville City Council is the largest regional council in Queensland. Council has recently undergone a whole-of-organisation transformational change which has placed their customers at the heart of everything they do and allowed them to take advantage of exciting opportunities to revolutionise the delivery of services to a community of more than 190,000 residents. Council strives to facilitate sustainable economic development for the region, enhance quality of life for their residents, and identify and unlock the potential of the City through inspired leadership, co-design of services with the community, and sustainable and innovative business partnering.
The Role
As a strong leader, you are passionate about providing quality services for your community, and ensuring sustainability is at the heart of the wastewater operations team. Driving constructive improvements and looking after the wastewater reticulation system which includes 190 pump stations and 1500kms of mains will be your overriding objective. This is a pivotal role in ensuring high quality, reliable and sustainable services are provided to meet the needs of this growing regional city.
With responsibility for leading and galvanising the existing experienced team of team leaders and operators you will lead from a firm standpoint to ensure optimum productivity and performance across Council’s wastewater system and assets. There is no design or wastewater treatment aspect to the role and capital expenditure on these assets won’t ramp up for another 12 months so this will allow you to get in and get on top of customer requests, get a true handle on the workload and ensure maximum productivity out of the team of about 50 people.
About You
As a motivated and proactive Senior Wastewater Engineer, you will have the right combination of talent and energy underpinned by a commitment to operational excellence. The position will suit an effective and decisive leader with proven commercial acumen, highly developed stakeholder engagement skills and a strong focus on the benefit this role will bring to the community.
Applications are encouraged from candidates outside of Local Government. If you have been out on a construction site and/or on a project coming to an end this is your chance to have a secure role which offers you the lifestyle you have been missing. The financial rewards, career development and work/life balance scenarios make this an attractive senior role in Local Government. The position offers flexible work life balance arrangements. As a guide, a salary of up to $125K + super will be paid to the successful applicant dependent upon experience and qualifications. Benefits include a 9-day fortnight, 5 weeks annual leave and 17.5% holiday loading as well as ongoing learning and development opportunities. Generous relocation assistance will also be provided for the successful candidate.
