About the opportunity
The Brisbane-based Principal Water Resources Engineer will be a key member of our Water Resources team. You will be responsible for the delivery of water resources projects across Australia in the areas of Transportation, Water and/or Mining, Oil & Gas – all areas where we have a significant existing and forward pipeline of work. You will provide technical and commercial leadership for the team, principally in the surface water area and specifically in hydraulic modelling. You will provide project direction, project and major task leadership, technical review and delivery of flooding projects including 2D flood modelling and hydrology, bridge / culvert and major transverse drainage design for all phases of design and scour assessment. Reporting to the Section Lead – Water Resources, responsibilities would also include strategy development, team development in other regions, and mentoring, goal setting and technical management as well as the preparation of winning proposals, business development through managing effective client relationships and inter-area/regional collaboration.
Essential Skills and Qualifications required for the role:
Relevant Engineering Degree
Significant experience in flood modelling for design of major infrastructure, particularly linear infrastructure.
Experience in engineering design
Design experience and strong technical knowledge of surface water engineering and hydrology principles, including:
Hydraulic modelling including 2D modelling (TUFLOW and/or MIKE-21)
Strong Project task leadership skills
Strongly developed communication & interpersonal skills
