The Senior Planning and Investigation Engineer is responsible for investigating and developing infrastructure planning solutions for projects nominated by TasWater to improve customer outcomes. This will typically be through the preparation of memos or business cases.

The Opportunity

The Senior Planning and Investigation Engineer is responsible for investigating and developing infrastructure planning solutions for projects nominated by TasWater to improve customer outcomes. This will typically be through the preparation of memos or business cases.

This role is strategically important to our future growth and impact.  We are looking for someone who has a can-do attitude, who is consultative, able to prioritise their work and get things done.  The successful candidate will be a team player, and able to work with a range of stakeholders including influencing senior leaders.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent. Chartered status CPENG & RPEQ (if applicable).
  • 10 years’ experience - Eligible to obtain Engineers Australia Chartered Professional Engineer status.
  • Proven experience successfully conducting options analysis for engineering projects, including financial; non-financial; and risk considerations.
  • Demonstrated water and sewer engineering knowledge and experience in water utility sector or similar
  • Experience in water/wastewater planning at either a master planning/detailed planning level.
  • Wastewater calibration experience.
  • Experience in the construction and manipulation of water and wastewater models, including the following platforms - SWMM, InfoWorks ICM, InfoWater, Water GEMS.
  • Maintain knowledge and appropriate technical standards, legislation, codes of practice and Australian standards
  • Competent and experienced in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of projects.
  • Experienced in managing risk on substantial projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply safety in design processes on projects.
  • Have strong verbal communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to guide Safety in Design.
