The Opportunity

We are looking for a Water Resources Engineer to join our highly regarded team of industry practitioners who value technical expertise and innovation, to apply practical on-the-ground problem solving and engineering solutions and work with their Clients collaboratively to deliver successful outcomes.

As a member of KBR’s Water Resources team in Brisbane you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of challenging projects that expand your skill base and keep you engaged. On any given day you could be designing a mine culvert, contributing to the design of a major piece of infrastructure or assisting a Local Government to manage their floodplain risk through comprehensive modelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking hydrological and hydraulic investigation and design for a wide range of studies including transport and mine infrastructure, floodplain management, stormwater management and mine water management.
  • Working effectively within multi-disciplinary teams to support the delivery of design solutions that meet Client and community expectations.
  • Maintaining an interest in technological advances and applying innovation to project delivery.
  • Producing technical models and reports to a high standard, contributing to KBR’s reputation for the delivery of quality project outputs.
  • Committing to safe delivery of our projects.


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Higher degree in hydrology, hydraulics or water resources will be highly advantageous
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience
  • Experience in hydrology and hydraulic models, including RORB, XP-RAFTS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, MUSIC, GOLDSIM.
  • Exposure to GIS (QGIS, ArcGIS) and CAD applications
  • Experience in technical and study report writing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small to medium sized projects
  • Eligible for full membership of IEAust and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
