Water Scheme Operator - Level 2, Sydney

We are seeking 

An experienced Level 2 Water Scheme Operators to provide quality control oversight, operation, maintenance and protection of the water distribution and sewerage networks and on property infrastructure within Flow's water utility schemes in order to provide reliable and safe supply of drinking and/or recycled water and sewerage services.

This position will be located  at our water utility schemes in Northwest Sydney, with travel to other site locations as required.  

The role will also support the Scheme Operator in operating and maintaining Local Water  Centres (sewage and/or stormwater treatment facilities).  

Core Responsibilities

• Quality control oversight, operation, maintenance and protection of water distribution and sewerage networks and on-property infrastructure in accordance with Flow's policies and procedures, ensuring compliance or exceedance of regulatory requirements, customer expectations and industry best practice.
• Establish rapport with development contractors installing network infrastructure and maintain quality control oversight of the works through audits, inspections and record keeping
• Review as-built records of network infrastructure to ensure accuracy
• Utility representative for handover of network assets from developer to Flow operations
• Establish rapport with home and commercial builder and their contractors to ensure protection of Flow assets.
• Quality control oversight of Flow’s connection contractors
• Liaise with Network Engineering team to implement optimal network operation with changing environment of new stages and connections including valve operation and network flushing regimes to maintain water quality
• Interact with, operate and respond to control and monitoring systems and alarms including field devices, programmable logic controllers, SCADA systems and the online portal for on-lot infrastructure monitoring and control
• Conduct maintenance and operation of water distribution and sewerage network infrastructure including, where within competency, performing minor maintenance and repairs
• Conduct regular cross-connection checks in accordance with Flow's procedures
• Supervise and audit operations, maintenance and connection contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with Flow's management systems and procedures in their provision of products and services in water distribution and sewerage network and on-property infrastructure
• Standby for third party works near critical Flow assets
• Maintain detailed records
• Support Scheme Operators in the operations and maintenance of Local Water Centres - Flow's sewerage and/or stormwater treatment facilities
• Support other facets of Operations from time to time
• Respond to operation incidents and alarms in and out of hours and participation in the operations on-call roster for weekend work
• Immediate response to and management of incidents and minimise environmental impacts in accordance with Flow policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
• Liaise with Flow's Retail team in managing service outages and any other incidents that have or will potentially impact customers, the environment or Flow's license provisions.
• Feedback to Flow's Scheme Implementation and Network Delivery teams to provide operational and technical assistance relating to new Local Water Centres, water distribution and sewerage networks and on-property infrastructure design, construction and commisioning.
• Contribute to the implementation and improvement of relevant Business Management System documentation including procedures, Safe Work Method Statements, operation and maintenance manuals etc.
• Be an Ambassador for Flow's brand to all stakeholders

Skills and Experience

• Electrical and/ or plumbing trade certificate.
• Completion or working towards completion of Certificate II in Water Industry Treatment (or other speciality in the National Water Training Package) is preferred
• Current drivers license
• Construction induction card (White Card)
• Background and understanding of the Water treatment/utilities sector
• Commissioning and/or operation of network infrastructure
• Familiar with operating controls
• Proficient in MS Office
• Experience in stakeholder management in an operations context and across business units
• Experience in Oracle NetSuite preferred
• Experience in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (PC and Mobile applications) is essential
• Strong skills in trouble-shooting, problem solving and conflict resolution

Successful candidates will be a confident and clear communicator with ability quickly establish rapport with customers and key stakeholders. Working independently in a small enterprise candidates will be able to manage time and prioritise competing responsibilities with a dedication to continuous improvement.  Candidate will be flexible with travel intrastate and interstate as required from time to time.
