We currently have opportunities for both a Water Network Operator and a Senior Water Network Operator to join the Water and Sewer team.

Working as part of a small team, you will be responsible for undertaking the operation, maintenance and construction of Council’s water supply and sewerage systems including:

  • Undertaking general labouring duties on water and sewer operations, maintenance and construction works
  • Undertaking the maintenance and construction of the water reticulation system including pipes, meters and services
  • Undertaking the maintenance and construction of the sewer reticulation system including choke clearing, reconstructions, manholes and junction cut-ins
  • Assisting with the remediation of environmental pollution events when required
  • Operating specialised tools and small plant such as trench compactors, generators, pumps, as well as large plant such as backhoe and excavator
  • Setting up and monitoring traffic control plans, interpreting plans and undertaking setting out levels

As Senior Water Network Operator you would also be responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily work activities of a water and sewer reticulation system team (including contractors), as well as undertaking periodic audits of homes and the water network to ensure system integrity and communicating with and educating customers on a range of water and sewer programs.

To be successful in either position you will need demonstrated experience in a similar role as well as:

  • A current Class MR driver’s licence
  • A General Construction Induction Card (White card)
  • Demonstrated experience in small and large plant operation
  • A proven ability to work unsupervised, as well as part of a team
  • An ability and willingness to participate in an on-call roster

Ideally you will also have knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance and construction of water and sewer reticulation systems, a Confined Space Certificate and RMS Traffic Control Qualifications.
